Self-determined approaches to technology design

When topics of disability and technology are thought of together, the discussion is often reduced to assistive technologies. In the project MACH'S AUF! we pursue a self-determined access to technology design for deaf people.

In our kick-off event, project coordinator Oliver Suchanek will report on their experiences in makerspaces so far and explain how access for deaf people should be rethought. Afterwards we will discuss together with Helene Jarmer (Österreichischer Gehörlosenbund) and Clara-Maria Kutsch (Uni Wien), among others, which technologies deaf people want to create themselves and what it takes to realize them.
